April 29, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative John McGuire (VA-05), released the following statement regarding his vote for the House Armed Services Committee’s (HASC) Reconciliation Proposal:

“We would not have a country without a lethal military. Today, I was proud to vote for the House Armed Services Committee’s Reconciliation proposal. The House Armed Services Committee's portion of the reconciliation package directly implements President Trump’s Peace Through Strength Agenda and is a once in a generation investment in our military and the defense industrial base.”

Background:

On April 10, the House adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 - 2034 Budget Resolution, which unlocked the Reconciliation process.

Following the House adoption of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 - 2034 Budget Resolution, the majority of the House standing committees received their Reconciliation instructions.

After each committee reviews their instructions, they create their own recommendations and submit them to the Budget Committee for review. Upon review, the Budget Committee assembles the recommendations and reports them to the House. For more information on the Reconciliation process, please visit budget.house.gov.
