Rep. John McGuire Is Now Accepting Summer Internship Applications

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative John McGuire (VA-05), today announced that his office will now accept applications for summer internships both in Washington D.C. and in the District Office in Lynchburg.

“I am excited to welcome two classes of interns to our office and I am excited to welcome them to the team. This internship offers a stipend and will be an incredible opportunity for all of our young people,” said Rep. John McGuire. 

Background:

Rep. John McGuire’s Washington, D.C. office offers internship opportunities for students each semester. Each internship is a paid opportunity and runs throughout the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters for college students. 

Responsibilities will typically include: 

 

  • Answering phone calls for our constituents;
  • Researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff;
  • Attending hearings and briefings;
  • Answering constituent letters on various issues before the House; 
  • Guiding Capitol tours; 
  • Writing letters and assisting with office management;
  • and other duties.
     

Interns will learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a Congressional Office.

The internship sessions are as follows:

Fall Session: Mid-August to Mid-December

Spring Session: Early January to Early May

Summer Sessions: Mid-May through June and July through Mid-August (full-time, 40-hour/week commitment)

The Deadline to apply for the two Summer sessions is April 14, 2025.
