Rep. John McGuire Hosts Agriculture Roundtable with Fifth District Farmers

October 2, 2026

BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA — On Friday, Representative John McGuire (VA-05) hosted a roundtable with farmers in the Fifth District, the Virginia Farm Bureau, and Colonial Farm Credit. The trip to the district also included tours of local cattle, poultry, and corn farms.

“Healthy farms equal a healthy district,” said Rep. John McGuire (VA-05). “Virginia’s farmers are the backbone of our economy and a vital part of the Fifth Congressional District as they work tirelessly to put healthy food on our tables. I appreciated the opportunity to hear from these folks about the challenges they face and how I can help as their representative.”

“Colonial Farm Credit is proud to join Congressman McGuire and his team to bring farmers, agricultural leaders, and policymakers together for meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture," said Ronnie Gill, Chief Operating Officer of Colonial Farm Credit. "Events like this cattle farm tour and roundtable provide an important conduit to hear directly from producers, see their operations firsthand, and better understand the issues affecting their businesses and rural communities. Supporting agriculture is at the heart of Farm Credit’s mission, and we appreciate the opportunity to help facilitate these conversations with Rep. McGuire and advocate for the continued success of our farmers.”

"Virginia Farm Bureau values opportunities to amplify agriculture's voice in Washington through events like Friday's discussion with Representative McGuire," said Olivia Gyapong,

National Affairs Specialist and Regulatory Policy Analyst, Governmental Relations for the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. "We are grateful the Congressman took time to hear from cattle producers in his district as they experience drought-related challenges, shortages in processing capacity, high diesel prices, and more. We look forward to the Congressman's continued collaboration and support as we aim to bolster Virginia's cattle industry."
