Rep. John McGuire expresses support for U.S. military action against Iran
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Virginia’s Fifth District Representative John McGuire said Saturday, February 28, he applauds U.S. military action against Iran, adding that he believes the administration went through the proper channels to authorize the operation.
“I think that as a leader, every decision you make, there’s going to be people that agree with it and people don’t,” McGuire said. “But I think the bottom line is we cannot have a nuclear weapon, Iran with a nuclear weapon, because they will use it, and, you know, if they use it, that’s millions of lives. So I think, you know, we got to do what we got to do.”
McGuire said that U.S. military action went through the Gang of Eight, a group of congressional leaders from the Senate and House of Representatives.
McGuire also expressed support for U.S. military personnel involved in the action and said he hopes the conflict remains limited in scope.
“This moment may represent a critical opportunity for the Iranian people to confront the oppression of their government and pursue a future defined by freedom and self-determination,” McGuire said.
